The Twilight Sad

Joined by Frightened Rabbit, The Twilight Sad and We Were Promised Jetpacks will begin touring North America this fall in a Scottish, indie rock explosion.  This week We Were Promised Jetpacks, four high school friends from Edinburgh, release their full-length debut, These Four Walls, on Fat Cat.  Sup Magazine succinctly described the album as the definition of Scottish rock, with “tender lyrics hidden beneath a self-deprecating sense of humor, unpretentious instrumentation, and, of course, that delightful accent.”

This September The Twilight Sad will release Forget the Night, the long-awaited follow up to 2007’s Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters.  Hailing from Kilsyth, Scotland, the quartet never expected to gain such an international following.   With Forget the Night, The Twilight Sad take a darker, stormier approach to their music and lyricism.  As singer James Graham told The Skinny, “The lyrics are very dark…revolving mainly around losing people and being none too proud or happy with myself…”  Though Graham sounds like he wants to wallow in self-pity, the album’s single “I Became a Prostitute,” well, it makes you feel the same way.  Regardless, this Fat Cat tour looks to be sensitive, Scottish rock at its epic height.
