The Decemberists Give Free Preview of New Album

It’s been quite a while since their last album, but the Decemberists much anticipated fake musical/rock opera The Hazards of Love is almost here. In an effort to allow fans to preview the album, they just released “The Rake’s Song”. If it’s anything like the album (which it should be), you can rest assured that it looks promising. “The Rake’s Song” begins with brooding guitar and vocals. This is where he begins to tell the story of a rake that marries at 21. Then deep and hollow drums come in. This is where the entire life’s story unfolds. The guitar riff from the beginning is played throughout, giving a dark and trancelike effect. Check it out on their Web site. All you need is an email address.
