Ramblin’ Jack Elliot to Bring Back Depression Era Blues

Times are rough. We know this. And the present times are all too reminiscent of the Great Depression. Music has come a long way since then. But, it seems apropos to our turbulent situation to bring back the country blues of an all too familiar era. With his new album A Stranger Here, Ramblin’ Jack Elliot steps out of his traditional style of folk music and back into pre-WWII times of country blues similar to Son House and Robert Johnson. He’s also been very influenced by folk legend Woody Guthrie and was a precursor to Dylan’s style of folk. It will be interesting to hear his take on this tradiational style of blues. His album is due out April 7, 2009.
