Tiger Trio to complete self-destruct sequence with December 11 Darkroom set

The soon-to-be-defunct Tiger Trio began when bassist Gary Pyskacek (Pedal Steel Transmission, The Singleman Affair) and organist Jesse Levine (Angela Desveaux, Thrill Jockey, Black Ox Orchestra, Constellation), after meeting as neighbors, gave themselves a one-year challenge: recruit drummer, make record, go out in blaze of glory. Check, check, and check. The drummer is Chris Brantley (also of Pedal Steel Transmission), the 12” is on the way, and the blaze of glory is set for December 11 at the Darkroom in Chicago, when they’ll play an 11 p.m. set between appearances by Roommate and Algernon.
They’ll be giving out free copies of “Flood Insurance,” their first and maybe their last single, at the show. Concertgoers who like to plan a few dance moves in advance, and who will need some time to figure out just how to wiggle and stomp to Brantley’s stubbornly off-beat drumming and Levine’s unhinged organ—imagine J.S. Bach and Ornette Coleman piloting Jefferson Airplane—are advised to study the stream below.
