video: Ed Harcourt Gives ‘Tomorrow’; Scores Donnie Darko Sequel

Ed Harcourt

The United Kingdom crooner, Ed Harcourt, has released a video for ‘Until Tomorrow Then’ found on his fifth full-length album The Beautiful Lie, which was released in the US this past June. The video opens with Harcourt dying in a scenic, picturesque Nevada desert only to be metaphorically resurrected on Fremont Street, better know as the “old drag” of Las Vegas. The stylistic, but rather garish video walks the viewer through a montage of artfully constructed, yet disjointed scenes between a fantasy desert alive with player pianos and sheet music and the electrically decadent Vegas strip in which Harcourt is accompanied by a mysterious women in a sequins cocktail dress and an omniscient trumpet player. In this video, art imitates life or life impersonates art, either way, it looks like Ed should have doubled-down on 11 or bet it all on black…

Harcourt is not currently on tour but the British singer-songwriter is performing live on September 12th 2008 at the Forever Heavenly Festival in London. He is also writing the score for the much-anticipated sequel to Donnie Darko.
