Mavis Staples Shines ‘Hope at the Hideout’
This past June, R&B singer and civil rights activist Mavis Staples performed at a sold out show at Chicago’s The Hideout. Staples picked thirteen selections from her fifty-two year career, spanning from before the civil rights movement to the present. Staples recently released the critically lauded album We’ll Never Turn Back - a mix of her classic civil rights Freedom Songs alongside some fiery new compositions co-written with album producer, Ry Cooder.
