Stones Throw Records is set to release the James Pants’ debut album, a record that is perhaps their most diverse and eclectic to date. As commonly happens on Prom Night, one thing dies and another is conceived, which is exactly what happened in 2001 when James Pants, with his Prom date in tow, approached his hero DJ, Stones Throw head honcho Peanut Butler Wolf, and formally introduced himself. One lengthy internship later, Wolf champions Pants as the “next big thing.”
James Pants is being claimed as a purveyor par excellence of that unmistakable “fresh beat, ’80’s soul, Electro Boogie, Early Rap, New Wave, & Post-Punk Disco,” all of which can be found on his May debut.
