SXSW: Dr. Dog & More Play Lou Reed Tribute
Long time Lou Reed fan Dr. Dog played tribute to their quasi mentor at the SXSW Lou Reed Tribute this weekend along with other artists like Thurston Moore, Moby, and My Morning Jacket. But it was the seal of approval by Lou Reed himself when he announced earlier that morning at a panel for his upcoming documentary that the ‘it’ band to him was none other than Dr. Dog themselves! The boys must have been riding high because they chose the cosmic universe themed tunes ‘Who Loves The Sun’ and ‘Ride Into The Sun’ as a response.
Other acts like Yo La Tengo and Ezra Furman cut their own Reed classics with the later calling out to SXSW to stop becoming any more commercial. That ‘machine’ just payed for your hotel stay, buster.
