audio: These United States ‘First Sight’
Psych folk gets pushed around like the red headed stepchild of music for the past decade. Admit it, you miss the patchouli and grilled cheese sandwiches of those ‘tour’ days. Well, the DC born band These United States are looking to fill your void with their debut release Three of Us at the Gate to the Garden of Eden come March 4th. The touring whores (some 300+ shows in fewer than two years) sample sounds from the Velvet Underground but with the grace of Johnathan Rice. So, their self described psych is really at the eyes of the beholder. We feel they fit firmly in a Postal Service bin rather than hippied out in patchwork dresses.
